MCS Competency Criteria consultation launched
The Microgeneration Certification Scheme have announced that they have put out to consultation a proposed set of competency criteria to bring clarity to the training/qualification requirements of MCS Certification.
The basis of the MCS consultation is to answer the question “What do I need to join the Microgeneration Certification Scheme?” The consultation, which closes at 5pm on July 8th, asks industry stakeholders to give their views on proposals which include two main routes to showing competence.
Summary of proposed routes;
Route 1
The first route can be through an assessment centre or college that is delivering a qualification that has been mapped against the competency criteria.
Route 2
The second route is the experienced worker route. This will allow a certification body to assess the different levels of competence within the role itself. This route of proving competence will meet the same criteria as the mapped qualification route but will allow an installer to opt to prove competency through on site assessments should they wish.
